Today’s Observer carries a warning from top UK economists that the government’s policies will probably trash the economy. Patrick Osgood notes that some of them also signed the letter to the Sunday Times last year urging George Osborne to “eliminate the structural current budget deficit over the course of a parliament.”
Have they admitted that they made the wrong call? Have they acknowledged that they were part of the clamour for spending cuts that led to the current policies? Of course not.
Read Patrick’s whole piece; he manages to be both angry and funny at the same time.
Maybe the Queen was right about economists after all.
