After yesterday’s data-heavy post, something a bit more light-hearted for the Thursday before a bank holiday weekend.
Now we all know that astrology is a load of rubbish. It’s a lot of superstitious mumbo-jumbo with no evidence base whatsoever. Anyone caught using it for assessment purposes would be drummed out of the CIPD - or if they don’t do drumming out, at least held up for widespread disapproval and ridicule. Astrology is up there with graphology, tarot reading and some of the dodgier psychometric tools as something that should have no place in modern management.
But yesterday the Sun moved into Taurus, the constellation under which I was born. Just for a bit of fun, I thought I’d look at some of the famous people with whom I share a star sign. Here, in no particular order, are a few of them:
Adolf Hitler, Niccolò Machiavelli, Karl Marx, Vladimir Lenin, Jozip Broz Tito, Maximilien Robespierre, Ho Chi Minh, Pol Pot, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeni, Oliver Cromwell, Idi Amin, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, Saddam Hussein and Tony Blair.
Anyway, as I was saying, astrology is a load of old rubbish, right………

I once brought the temperature in a training course revolving round how wonderful the Myers-Brigg system was for HR purposes by comparing it to astrology. It was a very, very long day after that….
Oh I’d love to have seen that! I bet you were popular with the facilitator.

Always knew there was something about you……
Interesting that you put Ollie Cromwell in front of Emperor Hirohito on your list, but perhaps I’m thinking too hard.
You also neglected to mention Pete Townsend, Joey Ramone and the inimitable Busta Rhymes who also seem to have more in common with you than at least some of the luminaries you’ve chosen, oh and Bono. But perhaps he belongs on your fist list.

Hmmm…
Happy Birthday!

Was also a Taurean……
Placing him in that company is a bit harsh on Ataturk…
