I’m going to be otherwise engaged for most of this week, so there won’t be much blogging going on.
A story has been doing the rounds on US blogs about a woman who seems to have Twittered away a job with Cisco. After an interview with the company she tweeted:
Cisco just offered me a job! Now I have to weigh the utility of a fatty paycheck against the daily commute to San Jose and hating the work.
Of course, Cisco, is a company full of geeks clever, Web 2.0 savvy people, so before long, this response came through:
Who is the hiring manager. I’m sure they would love to know that you will hate the work. We here at Cisco are versed in the web.
But not in punctuation, it seems.
It’s still not clear whether Cisco have withdrawn the job offer to the woman who has become known as Cisco Fatty. Now the whole world knows the story, perhaps the thought of all the piss-taking she’ll get will deter her from taking the job.
Hutch Carpenter, one of the first bloggers to pick up the twitter exchange, tells the story of the story.

Ouch, just another lesson on why you should watch what you say, wherever you say it. Even though it may only be 140 characters long, you never know who’s listening, including hiring managers and bosses.
