The government has announced that, from this week:

Branded high-visibility jackets must be worn by offenders carrying out work on community payback projects.

Jack Straw rejected criticisms that this amounted to medieval justice:

What this is about is enabling the public to see that justice is being done.

A sound idea, Jack. Those who harm the rest of us for their own personal gratification or financial gain should be shown up for doing so and made to pay.

No doubt several consignments of these high visibility jackets will be delivered to the offices of investment banks early next week.
