First of all, we’re all guilty of speaking like this at times. If you’ve ever said “utilize” when the word “use” could be sufficient, then you’re guilty. HR Speak was actually created by the management consultant world. Those mavens of billable hours from the Big 6 were the ones that came up with this delectable dimension of dialogue. And during my brief stint at Coopers & Lybrand (PriceWaterhouseCoopers now), people actually spoke like this to each other…and not just in meetings.
Use English folks for it will serve you well. And contrary to popular belief, HR speak was not created by HR folks first….management consultants of the world…take your bow on this one.
